Both  as an amateur and professionally Graeme has won many road and track races internationally, and in Australia. His career blossomed in 1997 when Graeme won the World Junior Cycling Championships at the age of 18 in Capetown, South Africa. The win stamped Graeme's name on cycling and confirmed his commitment to the sport. Graeme won TWO GOLD medals at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games in the Teams Pursuit and Madison setting along the way, for the third time, an amazing world record of 3 min 56.510.

In previous European road seasons, Graeme lived in Tuscany, Italy, near other team members and training partners. In 2006, Graeme will take up residency in Belgium, having signed with a new team - the division 1 Pro Tour team of Rabobank. In 2007, he will again spearheard the sprint stages for Rabobank having signed another year with them. Graeme has fast become a super sprinter and is regarded by many as one of the fastest sprinters in the peleton today.
